Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. As a school community we will stop, remember and pray for, not only those brave men and women who died or were wounded in conflict but for peace in our lives and our country. This is an important time to gather in silence, and reflect on the sacrifices made for our wonderful, free country. Thank you to Year 6 Leaders who will lead the reflection. The Social Justice Leadership Team and myself will join members of our local RSL at 11am in Mactier Park for the memorial service and to lay a wreath on behalf of Sacred Heart School. Year 3/4s will spend some time later in the day visiting the water tower features to learn about our local history and the Anzac legacy.          November is also a time when we especially remember and pray for all those we have loved and who have died, May God grant them eternal rest. Amen.

On Sunday, November 21st our Sacramental children will receive their Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. This will be a very exciting time for them and their families as they have been preparing for their Sacraments and patiently waiting for this day that has been changed many times.  We look forward to welcoming Bishop Shane to Sacred Heart where he and Fr John Paul will celebrate Mass with these children. We ask God to bless them all and wish them well on their very special day.

After much careful consideration it has been decided that the following class structures will best suit the needs of the school as a whole in 2022. The complete staff list will be made available as soon as it is finalised.

3x Foundation/Year 1Vanessa Tartaglia, Kathy O'Sullivan & Katy Dundon
2x Year 2Andrew Nilbett, Bree Petrie/Bec Borzillo
4x Years 3/4Melissa Cassetta, Nicole Brown, Tayla Corbo & Michelle Cameron
3x Years 5/6Emily Slaughter, Reilly Young & Cath Basile

Teachers are currently completing individual assessments in a range of literacy and numeracy areas. These assessments provide valuable data, achievements and progression for every student. Relief teachers will replace class teachers to enable them to complete these assessments. This information will be included in Semester 2 reports which will be released to families on December 8th.

We are very excited to finally begin Foundation 2022 Transition and welcome 28 new students to Sacred Heart this week. They have had an opportunity to ‘try school’ in small groups and we are enjoying getting to know each of them. They have enjoyed some fun-filled time getting to know the school, some new friends and meeting teachers.

A parent information session will be held for new enrolments on Tuesday evening at 6pm in the current Foundation room. Please enter through the foyer as there will be signage there. This will be an opportunity for families to find out more about school and ways you can best prepare for this exciting milestone. Please phone the school office if you would like any further information.

Congratulations to Year 6 students, Jacob Christopher and Sienna O’Halloran, who received a nomination for the Fred Hollows Humanity Award. Both Jake and Sienna received this award at a virtual event held nationally and watched on by not only their classmates but students from all over Australia. The Fred Hollows Humanity award recognises Year 6 students across Australia who show compassion, integrity, kindness and make a positive difference in their school or community.

We are delighted to acknowledge this award as these characteristics closely align with our Graduate Outcomes and school expectations for our students at Sacred Heart School.  A wonderful achievement to be celebrated!

Congratulations Charlie Martin and Aurelie Wilson who received the Principal’s Award. Charli has a positive approach to new challenges. She has grown in resilience and determination and is having lots of successes because of this.  Aurelie has an outstanding work ethic and does her best in every way. She is building resilience and managing challenges more confidently as they arise. Congratulations and well done Charli and Aurelie.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.
