Classroom Clippings

Year Six Team

Last week the Year Six students celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation. The Masses were a joyful and reverent occasion and we are grateful for the participation and support of all those involved.

In the lead up to this sacrament, students focused on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and reflected on how these gifts are shown in the present day through ordinary people doing extraordinary work. We explored the link between our personal attitudes and our spirit and the importance of sharing our own gifts and talents with others.

Students chose a name for Confirmation based on a saint that they found had admirable gifts and lived out the teachings of Jesus. We then created an icon style art piece of that saint for display in the church for Confirmation. Students transferred images onto MDF using baking paper and greylead, then painted them using acrylic and metallic paints. You can check out these spectacular icons at our Art Show next week!
