2019 Christmas Carols
Moyhu Primary and Lions Club Community Christmas Carols
For those who could not make it on the evening here is what Rick said.....
I would like to take this opportunity to say a quick few thank-you to a number of people who have made this school year successful.
For tonight to happen a thank-you to the Lions Club for cooking the BBQ, Renee and Kerrie for organising the food, drinks etc. Alex and the students for leading the singing tonight.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people for the 2019 school year.
Firstly to the School Councillors for your time and commitment towards the school. This can be a time consuming role but also a rewarding role and it is greatly appreciated by everyone in the school community for the time and effort you give to the school.
This year we are farewelling our school Council president. Liz has done a wonderful job in her support of the school community and especially to me and the staff in her role. Thank-you Liz for your professionalism and dedication to the school. Liz has been on the School Council for 11 years and 9 of those years as the president. Liz and Warren, Charlette, Milly and Audrey have been at the Moyhu PS for the last 12 years supporting the school in many ways working bees, camps, excursions, cooking or anything else that is needed.
Unfortunately for the Moyhu Primary School we are also farewelling the Shanley’s. Chris and Emma have supported their children Connor, Molly, Bonnie and Lily for the last 17 years at the school. Their support and commitment to the school has been fantastic. Along with both being on the school Council they have organised working bees, mown lawns for a number of years, looking after the pool, kept the gardens looking fantastic. Along with making signs, designing shirts, helping organise the major fundraisers of ‘Show us your wheels’ and the ‘Trivia night’ plus attending camps and excursions.
Both these families will be greatly missed by the Moyhu Primary School community. On behalf of the Moyhu Primary School, I sincerely thank both of the families for their commitment to the school, their children’s education and for supporting all children in the school.
Tabitha and Scott’s children have finished at Moyhu but as they are looking after other children from the school they have not finished their time at Moyhu Primary.
I would like to thank all the parents, who have made yourself available and helping at the functions/events. The money raised is greatly appreciated by all the children. This year we used some of the money raised to purchase more ipads for the school plus ipad keyboards, the bus to the snow and contributed to the shade sail for the new sandpit.
Gil Peters for volunteering her time every Tuesday to be at the school either helping with the SAKG program or working in the rooms with the children. To the parents that help at Stephanie Alexander garden each fortnight Kris and Kylie.
A big thank-you to the classroom teachers Kate White and Bec Gathercole who were with us until the end of term 3. Also to Bek Sinclair who has done a wonderful job this term stepping into the role. They have helped to make the school a warm, friendly place where the children learn.
To Renee thank-you for everything. Your support and knowledge is greatly appreciated by not only me, but also the teachers and the whole school community. Even through your life is very busy you still manage to go above and beyond with your job to support the school and the community.
To Sandra, Alex, Peg and Ant (visiting teachers) thank-you for your programs you provide and for embracing the school culture.
I would like to wish everyone here a safe and happy Christmas and all the best for 2020.
Our graduating year 6 students by Rick Martin
This year’s grade six children have shown themselves to be excellent role models and leaders in the school. As a group they have demonstrated a commitment to their academic performances. There supporting and helping other children in the school is appreciated by all the teachers and children.
Audrey was one of our school Captains this year. She has been an excellent role model with her work ethic and how she treats and works with all the other children in the school. I will miss Audrey’s conversation before school and helping me complete before school tasks. She is a very good student. Her willingness to learn and to support others with their learning is commendable. It has been fantastic to watch Audrey develop. She is a confident young lady who has the skills to do accomplish anything she puts her mind to.
I have watched Lily grow and mature over my time of being at Moyhu. Lily was an excellent a school captain. She has continued to display a good attitude to her work and has made fantastic growth with her learning. Lily has represented the school at zone and state level for her running over a number of years. Her kind, friendly, supportive nature is always shining through. She really is one of the most caring students I have come across in my years of teaching. Congratulations Lily on your years at Moyhu Primary School you have touched everyone at the school with your kind and supportive acts and I know that this will continue to shine through in your life beyond Moyhu.
Lachlan is a no fuss student. If something needs to be done he will always think of a way to do it (well the quickest way) and finish the task. He is extremely reliable and I could always depend on him to answer questions or do a task. He is a excellent mathematician and overall a very good student in all areas. I will miss Lachlan in the room as he could always be depended upon to set an excellent example of work ethic and commitment to get tasks completed.
Ivy has really grown and come out of her shell in the last couple of years. She is an excellent student in language displaying great insight in what she reads. Her inferencing and predicting skills are of a very high level. Ivy has skills in many areas of the curriculum. She has represented the school in athletics, excellent swimmer, good at most sports , she is a great artist, good musician and is able to pick up on any new skills very quickly. Overall a very good student. I am really interested to see the path that Ivy takes in the future.
I have known Xavier longer than the other Year 6 students, even though he has only been at Moyhu Primary school for the past 4 years. I was his Principal at Benalla East when Xavier was in Prep. It is fantastic to see his growth and maturity develop over that time. Xavier has demonstrated that he is a very good student. He has great skill in most areas of the curriculum. Xavier is a very kind caring person who mixes well with all children. He has demonstrated lots of leadership skills this year being a good role model to the other younger students in the school.
I will miss this group of Year 6 students they have been great for the school and always represent themselves well. We wish them all the best for secondary school and I look forward to their achievements in the future.
