Around the College

Summer Ready

It's the time of year when the sun starts to shine and we start applying sunscreen. Over the next few weeks, the Busselton Parent Connect is running a fundraiser selling exactly what you need - sunscreen! 250ml bottles of quality Hamilton sunscreen are for sale, with all profits going towards the school toilet makeover project.

With your help, we can raise a whopping $4000 and be ready to begin transforming the toilet blocks at the Busselton campus in 2021.

How can you participate?

Simply let your Parent Rep (Primary) or House Captain (High school) or Chaplain (Odette) know you are willing to sell 1 box. 1 box consists of 6 x 250 ml bottles of quality sunscreen for sale at $17 per bottle.  You can also sign up online by following the following link:

Simply sell and return the money to school!

Thank you in advance for partnering with us in this exciting initiative.

Waratah Court Kiss and Drop Notification

Can parents please be aware that the Kiss and Drop Zone in Waratah Court is not to be a stationary parking point for families who are waiting for their children. Several complaints have been made, and some near misses with students and cars.

Please only park in designated bays, and if none are available, please keep traffic moving in a safe way. City Rangers will also be monitoring this situation - so to avoid any fines or warnings, please adhere to all road signage.

Thanks for your help.

Friday 4 December - Dunsborough Presentation Night, 5.30pm

Tuesday 8 December - Busselton Primary Presentation Night, 6:30pm

Permapleat

Permapleat have announced an incremental price increase across most uniform items effective 1 January 2021. For your convenience the online store will remain open throughout the holidays.  Permapleat offices will close for the Christmas holidays, Monday 21 December 2020 and re-open on 11 January 2021.

The 2020 cut-off date for Campus uniform collection is Wednesday, 9th December. This means that parents placing online uniform orders after 5th December for Campus collection will only be processed and ready for collection from Monday, 25 January 2021 onward (when the College office reopens).

We also wish to remind all parents who have children entering Year 3, or Year 6, that some uniform changes traditionally apply over the course of the year (Term 1 for Year 6 and in Term 2 for Year 3s.) Please ensure you are prepared for these adjustments as identified on our website at http://www.cornerstone.education/parents/uniform/

Busselton Campus Uniform Fitting for 2021

The Busselton Campus Uniform fitting room will reopen on Monday, 18th January. No appointments are necessary but we do ask that only one family accesses the room at a time. Each family will sign-in on the register located at the uniform room. Please note, all students must be accompanied by a parent for fittings.

Front Office Uniform Sales

The College holds a limited number of socks and hats for purchase at the Front Office. To avoid disappointment, we encourage parents to place their orders online in the first instance and to make purchases via the office for top-ups in between.

Fashion Show - Op-Shop Style

Coming to Cornerstone in 2021, is the highly anticipated Secondary Op-Shop Fashion Show!

If you have pre-loved clothing, suitable to walk the red carpet, then please don't toss them out. Toss them our way!

Next year, we are focusing on the care provided by local community groups such as the Salvation Army - and to get the fundraising ball rolling, we will be having our very own fashion show with a twist.

Donations of stylish pre-loved wear is sought to fill the wardrobe for this new addition to the College calendar in 2021.

If you need further information, please contact the office and we can put you in touch with Mr van der Tang.

Staff Announcements

Some more staffing changes have now been finalised and can be announced to our College community.

At the Busselton campus, Mr Ben Fearnley will be moving to teach Year 5 and Miss Brittany Haythornthwaite will take over in Year 4. But Miss H has long service leave in Term 1, so Mrs Kerry Cain will be looking after that class for the beginning part of the year! Mrs Sheila Willment has been appointed to teach the Year 2 class, four days a week, along with Mrs Meyer for the fifth day. Mrs Willment has children at Cornerstone, so she will be known to some of us already and we welcome her to our teaching team.

Mr Scott Arthur will be leaving us at the end of the year and Mrs Lisa Haagensen is returning to the College in his place. We are looking forward to seeing Mrs Haagensen back next year, having taught here five years ago!

At the Dunsborough campus, we are having separate Kindy and Pre Primary classes for the first time. Mrs Liz Bartley is taking on the Kindy class and Mrs Heidi Mullender is joining Mrs Cindy Midgely in pre Primary.

Christmas Hamper Appeal and Free Dress Day

Busselton campus Primary students are reminded that this Friday we will be taking part in the regional churches' Christmas Hamper Appeal.  All donated items will make their way into the hands of local families who are doing it tough.

Come in free dress and bring a non-perishable item (canned goods, chips, cool drinks, Christmas crackers etc), which will be donated to the community groups overseeing the distribution of items.  We hope you will be part of it.

Computer System Changes in 2021

With our connection with the CCM school group, one of the significant changes that families will encounter is the transfer to new computer systems and communication tools.

Over the coming holiday period, data will be transferred to a new management system which will provide efficiencies and access improvements for everyone.

This notification is to advise that you will be introduced to replacement software and processes in the new year.  There is no action required on your part, other than an awareness that changes are coming.
