French Update 

Term 1 has got off to a great start in the French department. Our Prep students have been learning how to introduce themselves and take part in simple conversations. Check out Mael’s awesome example of how to say how he is feeling. 

Year 1 began the term by creating bird puppets to perform with the poem ‘Les deux petits oiseaux’ (Two Little Birds). We have more recently been learning about how Easter is celebrated in France. On 1st April, children try to stick ‘Poissons d’Avril’ (April Fish) on the back of their parents without them noticing! Here are some students finishing their designs to use as an April Fool’s Day prank! 

Students in Year 2 have been creating picnic blankets to label foods they would take on their ideal picnic. As part of this project, they have been learning to identify whether foods are masculine, feminine or plural. 

Our Year 3 students have been introducing and describing the members of their families. Check out the wonderful job Elise has done creating her family tree.  

In Year 4, students have been using green screens to film weather reports. We’ve seen some great examples of pronunciation, intonation and digital effects, such as Timothy and Claribel’s projects. 

Students in Year 5 have been creating photo projects to answer questions about themselves with detailed answers. Can you translate any facts about Amber? 

Year 6 began Term 1 by writing paragraphs to describe themselves. We finished the term with a scavenger hunt to practise using numbers hidden around the classroom. Students answered 15 questions such as, ‘What is the population of France?’ to extend their knowledge of numbers into the hundreds, thousands and millions.
