Discover Sailing Day

Princess Royal Sailing Club, in cooperation with Sailability, thanks all those who helped to make the inaugural PRSC Discover Sailing Day a success.

Visitor to the club were able to see ten boats in action, including the bright and colourful 303s and rescue boat Responder. Around 55 visitors and crew got on the water –all from just 10am to 12 noon.  All boating activity was managed from the pontoon by Chris and Bill, with another dozen volunteers onshore and about 16 people who arrived after sailing was cancelled due to increasing winds, plus a few spectators.  All up, about 90 people got together at the club, ensuring a warm welcome and a good sailing experience for visitors.

From requests made at registrations and on Facebook, there have been new enquiries about SheSails, keelboat courses, Juniors and dinghy sailing, crewing opportunities and Sailability. In all, it was a very worthwhile morning.

We offer a special thank you to our canteen crew for the wonderful homemade treats, tea and coffee, which added to the enjoyment of the morning and the club's welcoming atmosphere.

No real club event can be complete without a call reporting a boat in distress . . .  Fortunately Responder was able to quickly establish that the skipper – near Brambles - did not require assistance. Thank you to Excitabull and Gypsy Doctor crews for relaying information about their concerns and initiating our response. Excellent response it was, too, with Chris and Tanya getting Responder into action so promptly!

Congratulations to all involved in this club activity. Please keep your eye out for more club building opportunities!
