Griffins Volunteer Sundowner
All Griffins volunteers are warmly invited to our upcoming Volunteer Sundowner on Friday 5 June 2026. An official invitation and flyer will be shared next week.
Please note that an earlier tentative date in May appeared on the school calendar; this date can be disregarded. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 5 June, so please be sure to mark it in your diary.
Volleyball
The Albany Volleyball Association’s (AVA) indoor season kicked off earlier this week. This year, Griffins has seven teams registered, ranging from Year Seven teams through to Men’s and Women’s teams competing in the Premier Leagues.
We are also pleased to share that this season we have formalised an arrangement between the AVA and GSG for the use of the GSG Gym on Monday afternoons and evenings for community volleyball training. This training is open to anyone participating in the indoor competition, and interested players are asked to register through the AVA.
Albany Volleyball League's Development Squad for 2026
Congratulations to Lars (Camfield) and Archie (Mokare), who have both been selected for the Albany Volleyball League’s Development Squad for 2026.
Pictured are Lars Collin (Year Nine) and Archie Henderson (Year Ten) with Jose Rebollar, former Mexican National Team Olympian (Rio 2016) and experienced professional player, now serving as the Performance Pathways Coach for Volleyball WA (VWA), along with Albany Volleyball Association President, Jack Sellinger.
Hockey
It was a wonderful afternoon for our Season Opener. Co‑chairs Alex and Gemma warmly welcomed both returning and new players, highlighting the positives of being part of not only Griffins Hockey, but the wider hockey community.
A community where players have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills, refine existing ones, and most importantly, be part of a team that encourages and welcomes participation well into players’ 70s and beyond.
Now that is a pretty incredible sport and family to belong to!
