Foundation Day: celebrating the past, looking to the future
Each time we gather to celebrate our past on Foundation Day, I am reminded of the courage of the founders of our school, who knew that creating Great Southern Grammar as a place for children to learn and grow in the Great Southern was not an easy decision. As it turns out, 28 years later, it was absolutely a wise one.
It is easy now to take for granted the beautiful land and facilities here at GSG and to forget how we came to be here. It is important that we take time to remember and recognise the effort it took to build our school and that is what Foundation Day is all about.
Our school was founded on the vision and hard work of many people, some who will be with us tomorrow, and some who are no longer with us. GSG began with a vision and a belief in creating a Christian community, and today we are a school of 731 students, 493 families, and 230 staff. Wow!
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow as we come together to share in our celebrations.
