Positive Behaviour for Learning

Every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach.

        Lesson Plan:

Step 1: List Learning Intentions and Success Criteria

We are learning to :

  • Understand how positive behaviour earns rewards
  • Help design a fair and motivating reward system
  • Work together to make group decisions

It will look like:

  • Explain how the reward system works
  • Suggest appropriate rewards
  • Help create a class reward matrix
  • Show expected behaviours to earn points

Step 2:  List a rationale for teaching the behaviour

Why is it important?

Holy Rosary School Values: Relationships, Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Kindness.

Holy Rosary School Expectations: Safety is our right. Learning is our responsibility. Respect is our way.

Step 3:  Identify examples and non-examples of the desired behaviour What would the behaviour look/sound like?

                                                                              Examples

Listening to other people’s ideas

Waiting your turn to speak

Working collaboratively with classmates

Brainstorming fair and achievable rewards

Taking onboard others opinions

Taking onboard others likes and wants

What would the behaviour not look/sound like?

Non-examples

Speaking over other people

Making a decision yourself based only on what you want

Brainstorming achievable and unfair rewards

Not listening to others opinions
