Sports News

Last week Queensland AFL ran clinics with our students at school. They looked at skills such as handpassing and drop punt kicking and also played some games. They will be back again in Term 3 to run the afterschool Auskick and Super Kick program on our school oval.

This week our students have begun their cross country preparation for the school Cross Country in week 10. The students have been working on their pacing for a distance race and how to control their breathing while running and exercising. This has been done through circular or box breathing by focussing on taking slow controlled breaths instead of panting and shallow breathing. Our students have been doing great at this.

Sporting Achievements

Well done to our students that represented Tallebudgera at the Oceanic Swimming Carnival. They did an amazing job representing our school and doing themselves proud. Congratulations to Emme and Billy who have both advanced to the South Coast trial and will compete next week.

Congratulations to a number of our students who competed at the State Nipper titles on the Sunshine Coast last week.

As you would have seen on Tally Tiger TV, a huge congratulations to William and Harry who have both been selected to represent Australia at their respective soccer and futsal World Cups later this year. This is a fantastic achievement and a great opportunity for the boys. Well done.

Tallebudgera Sporting Academies

We have had a great start to our sporting academies this term with our rugby and surfing kicking off in the last week. The students have done well getting involved and listening to the coaching to help improve their skills in their chosen sport. The touch football academy will be starting up in Term 2.

School Swimming

Next week we will kick off our school swimming program for our year 4 students and they will be followed by our year 5 and 6 students in the coming weeks. This program is designed to teach and educate our students on water safety in our local environment. Every year our students do a great job in this program.

Oceanic District Trials

Well done to our students that have been trialling the last few weeks for representative district trials. So far we have had the rugby league, AFL and netball trials. Towards the end of this term we will hold our touch and soccer trials for the students that nominated for these trials.

Running Club

We had a great start to Running Club last week (except for the weather). Our students did amazing working on their running skills in the hall. It is great to welcome Mrs Rixon and Mr Sinton along to help out with our Running Club on Friday mornings. We look forward to seeing you all again this week.
