Prep Highlights
The first year of school is very special and we endeavour to make it truly memorable by including extra highlights for our Preps. This is the sixth week of school and so far our Preps have enjoyed a Teddy Bear Picnic, P for Prep Day (dress up) and two assemblies with Tally Tiger, awards, Prep performances and parent and carer audiences.
Our Preps have had a very successful start to school and we thank parents and carers for supporting our events.
Progress Interviews
Progress interviews are a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to be informed and partner with our school to help ensure the ongoing success of our students. Thank you to all parents and carers who have booked appointments for progress interviews this term. Details of the arrangements for interviews, including the map, are provided to parents and carers via ClassDojo.
Progress interviews are conducted in year level hubs, creating a convenient way for parents and carers who have more than one child to attend multiple interviews in a time efficient way.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 complete each year. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards. NAPLAN will commence on 11 March 2026, in Term 1. Visit nap.edu.au for more information.
During NAPLAN, we maintain our usual caring approach, ensuring students feel supported and at ease. Like all school days, our focus is on students applying their best effort.
Prosperity Partners
I would like to thank this year's sponsors who have joined the P&C Prosperity Partners program:
Gold Sponsor: PRD Burleigh (John Fischer and Shelley Watkins)
Silver Sponsor: Nurse Next Door (Lauren Macdonald and Glen Parsons)
Thanks to the generosity of these important partners, our P&C are able to significantly enhance the events and project support each year.
Collaborative Planning
Collaborative planning will occur throughout Week 9 of this term. When teaching teams are planning, our specialists will take classes to ensure the continuation of learning.
Each term, teachers are released to plan together to ensure that we provide a consistently, high quality educational program. Our Head of Curriculum and Deputy Principal (Teaching and Learning) support teaching teams to develop the planning and assessment, aligned with the Australian National Curriculum and informed by the learning needs of our students.
Active School Travel
Our first Active School Travel community breakfast for the year was a wonderful success, held on a glorious sunny morning and filled with bright, happy faces. Students gathered at Eddie Kornhauser Park under the supervision of staff and parents/carers, before actively commuting to school together by bike, scooter, skateboard, and on foot.
We sincerely thank our dedicated volunteers, who ensured students began the day with a healthy breakfast, with toast provided by our local Lions Club, fresh fruit from Woolworths, and yoghurt and muesli bars supplied by the school.
Tally Tiger and Zero the Hero delighted students with special appearances, dancing and having fun with our students, while raffle prizes were drawn to the lucky students and families that had their names drawn.
This event was a fantastic way to conclude the week and celebrate the strong sense of community that we have here at Tally.
