Smart Expressions 2026

St Pius X College was well represented at the opening of Smart Expressions at the Concourse Art Space last Thursday. Visual Arts staff and Ms Elizabeth Watson and a number of 2025 HSC students attended. Smart Expressions is an annual exhibition of students from local high schools featuring their HSC artworks. The College was represented by the creative works of Lucas McNally, Jordan Moore, George Stewart and Sergio Vincenzo. The exhibition was opened by Willoughby Mayor, Cr Tanya Taylor who spoke glowingly about the artworks and the importance of developing imagination in young people for work, study and life.

The exhibition is open on Wednesdays to Sundays from 11:00 am

Exhibition dates: 5 to 29 March 2026

Willoughby City Council presents an exhibition of student artworks selected from the 2025 NSW HSC practical examination in visual arts. The exhibition demonstrates the interests and passions of a new generation of young artists. Celebrating the artistic talents and achievements of young people, the exhibition features a selection of artworks from students who attended six local high schools:

  • Bradfield Senior College

  • Chatswood High School

  • Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School

  • Mercy Catholic College

  • St Pius X College

  • Willoughby Girls High School.

The artwork selected for the exhibition explores a range of subject matters such as immigration, poverty, mental health, identity, and the impact of patriarchal values and the consequences of technological advancement.

URBNSURF Challenge 2026 - Registrations now open

The URBNSURF 2026 Challenge is back and set to be bigger than ever. To help more families get involved, this year’s event will run on Sunday 29 March at URBNSURF Homebush. Whether you are a returning surfer, a first timer or a parent keen to give it a go, this is a fantastic opportunity to dive into the St Pius community spirit.

Session options include Learn to Surf, Cruiser and Progressive Turns, with all student and parent registrations completed through Clipboard. Registrations close at 5:00 pm on Monday 16 March, and numbers may be capped depending on interest, so early sign‑up is encouraged.

School staff will be present, and Flowstate video footage will be available for purchase via the URBNSURF website.

Touchstone Portrait Prize 2026: Celebrating the people who shape us

Create a portrait in any medium:

Drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, print or digital.

(2D works must be no larger than A3.)

 

The competition features three age categories:

  • Years 5–6

  • Years 7–8

  • Years 9–12

     

Prizes include $200 for the overall winner, $100 for each age‑group winner, and additional gift cards for runners‑up.

 

Submissions close:  Friday 24 April
