Weekly Values Focus

Week 7: Footscray West students value differences
At our school, we are each different in many ways, and we value and celebrate these differences. They might be in how we learn, how we look, or how we use our bodies. You might notice differences in our cultural identity, how our brain works, or how we interact with the world. The possibilities for our differences are endless!
We value differences by respectfully noticing and appreciating them in others. When we make space for these differences, everyone feels included and welcome. We can show this sense of belonging in simple ways: listening carefully when someone shares something about their culture, asking kind questions to learn more about a person, and celebrating the successes of others. It also means using kind words and actions, even when someone does things differently from you. When we respect and value each other’s differences, we help others feel proud of who they are, and we make our school a place where everyone belongs.
This week, think about how you can show respect for differences. Could you learn to say hello in a friend’s language? Could you celebrate a classmate’s strength, or notice the way someone learns or plays? Small actions like these help us learn from each other, build stronger friendships, and make our school community a place where everyone belongs.
