INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
October 2025
A huge thank you to all participants in this year’s The Voice competition, and a mighty congratulations to our five talented finalists – Chloe Stephen, Jordan Handley, Janussha Bala, Sadie Condron and Callum Eade.

As always, the competition was fierce, with only four points separating 1st and 3rd place. This year’s winner is Year 9 student Callum Eade!
Callum received a gift card and trophy and will have his name added to the perpetual shield proudly displayed in the PAC foyer (along with well-deserved bragging rights!).

A special thank you to our wonderful judges – Chloe Glenn (2024 winner), Year 12 Performing Arts Captains Kenzie Reid and Amber O’Keefe, Isla Canning, Hue Martin-Webb, and teachers Mr Feeger, Miss Taylor, Miss Lie, Miss Seelig, Mr Beatson, Miss Edwards, Ms Rubio, Mrs Mortel and Mrs Devine.

Congratulations to all the ensembles and performers who took part in our annual end-of-year concert on Monday night!

Special thanks to soloists Callum Eade and Isla Canning, MC Kenzie Reid, audio technician Daniel Lefel, and roadie Tanner Miles.
A huge shout-out to our incredible Instrumental Music teachers – Cheryl Morrow, Kevin Woodhouse, Paul Coles, Paul Winter, Emma Jury and Damien Thomas – and to our captains Freya Green (Rookie Band), Isla Canning (LHS Band) and Kenzie Reid (Choir) for their leadership and enthusiasm.
We also bid farewell to our graduating Class of ’25 – Kenzie Reid, Taylah Mae Gundry, Joel Eastham, Jason Aloysius and Jacob Baldacchino. Thank you for your amazing contributions to music at LHS. We wish you all the best in your adventures beyond school! 🌟

Congratulations to our Rookie Band members Mia, Kai, Freya (LHS Rookie Band Captain) and Dom, who recently took part in the annual NEVR Rookie Band Workshop at Fairhills High School.
Students from LHS joined musicians from Fairhills HS, Glen Waverley SC, Monbulk College, Lilydale Heights SC, Mt Waverley SC, Mullauna SC and Vermont HS, participating in sectional workshops with specialist tutors, followed by a full-band rehearsal and concert finale for family and friends. Well done - your performances were outstanding! 🌟👏

Thank you to all the students who provided fantastic lunchtime entertainment on the PAC Deck during the October Arts Festival – Bald Dog, HSD, LHS Choir and the Year 8 Vocal Group.
We’re already planning more lunchtime performances for the final weeks of term – stay tuned!

Rock bands HSD and ROOM2 braved the wet weather on Sunday 26th October, each performing an impressive 20-minute set on the main stage. Massive congratulations to both groups for delivering amazing performances despite the rain, and a warm welcome to Slater, who made his debut performance with ROOM2!
A big thank you also to Mr Winter, our brass teacher, who oversaw the entertainment at the festival – your efforts were much appreciated.

The weather was much kinder for our amazing LHS rock bands — ABC (with guest performer Charlie Glenn), HSD, and ROOM2!
Congratulations to all of you - you absolutely rocked it, wowing the crowds (including plenty of past and present LHS staff and students!).
Next gig: Catch our talented bands at the Lilydale Melba Festival & Street Fair on December 7th! 🎶

While Mr Woodhouse is on leave (Weeks 4-7), we’re pleased to welcome back Mr Harrison, who will be teaching woodwind on Tuesdays and Fridays and conducting both the LHS Band and Combined Bands.
🗓 Wednesday 3rd December – Year 12 Valedictory Dinner (Year 12 Musos)
🗓 Sunday 7th December – Lilydale Melba Festival & Street Fair (Funk Empire, ABC, HSD)
