Miss Justine Goonan

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a busy and positive few weeks at Sacred Heart School.

Our students have well and truly settled into their new classes for the year; they have learnt their new routines and are focused on their learning and doing great things.

Thank you to all of our families for your attendance at the recent Parent Teacher meetings, it was great to see all of our students, families and teachers meeting/reconnecting to talk about their cherubs. This is an important part of our focus on teaching the 'whole child' with everyone involved and of the reporting process.

Students, families and staff had a great afternoon together for our Sacred Heart School Community BBQ. It's always a great opportunity at the beginning of the year to get together, welcome new families and catch up over a relaxed evening.

Our Year 3 and 5 students have finished NAPLAN for another year. After the initial system wide glitch for the writing assessment, our students participated in the four different assessments (Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy) giving the assessment their best efforts.

Students have been enjoying a variety of excursions and events already this year with our Year 2 - 6 students attending a Regional Arts Victoria excursion, with funding organised by the Upper Murray Performing Arts group. Amy Lockwood continues to build our partnership with Snowy Hydro and their STEM Academy through STEM workshops for all of our students onsite, this will continue once a term throughout the school year. The Year 4/5/6 students enjoyed a mental health and wellbeing focused sessions with Al's Skate Co also.

Thank you to everyone in our school and wider community for the support of our 'Post a Prayer' fundraiser. Donations have closed this week, and we begin decorating the posts to share with farmers before the end of the term. This fundraiser is more than just getting posts for our farmers, but an opportunity for our students to learn about charity and practical supports that we as community members can do to support those affected.

Our Parent & Carer Community Group have been working on a variety of fundraising initiatives for our school. Thanks to many of your who have put your hand up to do some baking for the festival, we will put more details about drop offs on our school Facebook page in the coming weeks. We are also sharing with our families our P & C bulb fundraiser that has begun this week and will run until April 10th.
