MENTAL HEALTH AND SKATEBOARDING
The students in 4/5/6 attended a Mental Health Skateboarding lesson with Al's Skate Co this week. For the first 45 minutes Al spoke to the students about mental wellness through activity. He also talked to them about sadness and depression. Al shared some personal reflections before asking students to identify all the physical activity sessions they currently participate in, or would like to participate in.
This was the last session we will have with Al as he is closing the Al's Skate Co park in Wodonga due to financial reasons. We will miss his education sessions and positive support of the students in the Upper Murray schools over the past 4 years. He has been of great service to our kids, and we wish him and his family well in the next venture.

EVERY DAY COUNTS
The importance of regular school attendance.
At Sacred Heart School, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings.
Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.
We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships or schoolwork, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can create a negative pattern of behaviour.
If your child is having difficulty attending school, talk to their teacher, Mr Quinn or Ms Goonan about getting support.
We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school. If your child must miss school, notify us as soon as possible so we can work together to support them. The poster attached shows how easy it is for attendance to drop to a concerning level over time.
Remember, Every Day Counts.
