A message from Miss Russell

What a wonderful start we have had to the year at Hurstville Public School! It has been so pleasing to see students settling beautifully into their new classes. Across the school, children are already thriving — building positive routines, reconnecting with friends and forming new friendships, and getting to know their new teachers. There is a real sense of enthusiasm and excitement in every classroom.

Our recent Swimming Carnival was a fantastic success. We were incredibly lucky with the beautiful weather, which made for a perfect day of competition and school spirit. The students represented themselves and our school with pride — their encouragement of one another, determination and sportsmanship were outstanding. We are very proud of everyone who competed and gave their best.

A sincere thank you to our parent volunteers who generously gave their time to support the carnival. Your assistance makes these events possible and is greatly appreciated. Thank you also to our dedicated staff for the significant organisation and preparation behind the scenes to ensure the day ran so smoothly.

We are also looking forward to welcoming families to our Meet the Teacher session tonight. It is always a valuable opportunity to connect and strengthen our partnership between home and school.

We can’t wait for another wonderful week ahead at HPS!

Next week, all students in Years 3–6 will be participating in our Zing Athletics Program in preparation for our Term 3 Athletics Carnival.

The sessions will take place in the school hall on Monday and Thursday. This program is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their skills, build confidence and prepare for upcoming carnival events in a supportive and structured environment.

If you do not wish for your child to participate, please notify the school in writing via email at hurstville-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.

Thank you for your continued support.

Parent Portal Access – New Families

A quick note for families who are new to the school this year

You don’t need access to the Parent Portal just yet. Portal access for new parents will be organised later in the term.

When it’s ready, you’ll receive an email from the school with:

instructions on how to set up your account

login details

all the information you need to get started

In the meantime, any important information will continue to be shared through our usual school communication channels (school enews).

Thank you for your patience, and welcome to our school community — we’re so glad to have you with us!
