Reminder - Meet the Teacher 2026 & Welcome Barbecue – Save the Date

We will be holding our 2026 Meet the Teacher sessions next Tuesday 24 February and Wednesday 25 February, as outlined in the overview below. 

 

Our 2026 Welcome Barbecue for new families will be held on Tuesday 24 February from 4pm - 5:30pm to coincide with the Kindergarten and Stage 3 information evenings. All families are welcome to come along.  A flyer to register your interest in attending the 2026 Welcome Barbecue is attached below, the flyer includes the QR code RSVP registration link.

 

Community Expo - This year on our tiered deck, we will also be holding an expo of our community users of the school site and other local support services. This expo will also coincide with the Welcome Barbecue and will be a great opportunity for families to connect with any of the community users or local support services operating in and around our school.

 

Tuesday 24 February 2026

  • Support Unit: 2:00pm (Art Show)
  • Kindergarten:  5:00 – 5:45pm (In your child's classroom)
  • Stage 3 (Year 5 & Year 6): 6:00 – 6:45pm (In your child's classroom)
  • Our 2026 Welcome Barbecue/Community Expo will be happening throughout the afternoon for all new students from across the school and their family, including Kindergarten, OC and Support Unit students.

 

 

Wednesday 25 February 2026:

  • Stage 1 (Year 1 & Year 2): 5:00 – 5:45pm (In your child's classroom)
  • Stage 2 (Year 3 & Year 4): 6:00pm – 6:45pm (In your child's classroom)
  • Community Expo will also be held on the tiered deck on Wednesday afternoon

Meet the Specialists Information Session 2026

Monday 9 March - From 9am in the School Library

 

Specialist staff at Hurstville Public School work with students in the classrooms, on the playground and in small group withdrawal sessions. Staff in specialist roles are an integral part of our school community and support students with their academic, social and emotional needs.

 

On Monday 9 March, our specialist teams (Languages, EAL/D, Learning & Support, Library, 3Bridges Team, and AP Curriculum and Instruction) will be holding an information session for all parents to learn about the role each team plays in enhancing the learning and wellbeing outcomes of our students.

 

There will be light refreshments provided from 9.00am in the school library followed by an interactive information session from 9.15am to 9.45am. You are invited to attend and find out how specialist staff support your child at school.

Reminder - Student Morning Drop Off from 8:30am and After School Pick Up at 3:00pm

A reminder to all of our families that students need to be dropped off to school no earlier than 8:30am. This is when staff are providing supervision in our playground areas.

 

In the afternoon, school finishes for kindergarten students at 2:30pm and for all other students at 3:00pm. Please ensure that you are punctual to pick up your children at this time. 

 

If these times before and after school for drop off and pick up are currently proving difficult for your situation, please contact our Before and After School Care provider, Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre Inc - Email:admin@kcac.org.au or call Katina, our site coordinator, on 0418 481 358 to register your child for before and after school care services on site at Hurstville Public School.

 

 

Student Invoice – Term 1, 2026

Families will shortly receive the Term 1 Student Invoice via email through the Skoolbytes online payment platform. This invoice covers key learning resources and planned student activities for the term (including programs, textbooks and selected incursions). Please finalise payment by the end of Term 1 – Thursday 2 April.

 

Our preferred payment method is online electronic payment via Skoolbytes. If you have any questions, or if you need to discuss possible financial assistance, please contact the school office and ask to speak with one of the Deputy Principals.

Hurstville P&C – 2026 Annual General Meeting & February Meeting 

Tuesday 24 February – Held in the school staffroom from 9:15am

Please save the date for our Hurstville Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) Annual General Meeting and February Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday 24 February from 9:15am in the school staffroom. 

 

The agenda for the AGM and February P&C meeting, sent to families this week,  includes a Zoom online meeting link for families who are unable to make it face to face but wish to be part of P&C in 2026.

It would be great for parents and friends within our school community to come along and get involved with our P&C in 2026.

 

 

Reminder: Hurstville Public School – 150 Year of Public Education (1876 – 2026)

2026 marks the sesquicentenary (150) celebration of Public Education on the Hurstville Public School site. We will have a series of wonderful events this year to mark this incredible milestone for the school community. Key dates and details to follow in the coming weeks. You will begin to see hallmarks of the 150 year anniversary appear around the school site throughout the year.
