ThinkUKnow - Parent and Student Presentations - Thursday 9 and Friday 10 July

The Friends’ School is partnering with ThinkUKnow Australia, an evidence-based education program led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), delivered nationally in partnership with police and industry partners. The program draws on current research, real case studies and reports made to the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation to educate young people, parents, carers and educators about online safety.

ThinkUKnow addresses current online issues including online grooming, self-generated child abuse material, sexual extortion, and the importance of help seeking behaviours, while empowering young people to make informed and safe choices online.

Student Presentations

ThinkUKnow presenters will be visiting the Primary School on Friday 10 July in The Farrall Centre Auditorium. Presentations will take place at the following times:

  • 10.00am - 10.45am - Years 1 and 2
  • 11.45am - 12.30pm - Years 3 and 4
  • 12.40pm - 1.25pm - Years 5 and 6

ThinkUKnow presentations are tailored specifically to each age group and focus on helping children recognise safe and unsafe online situations, make positive choices, and identify trusted adults who can support them if they have concerns.

Parent and Staff Presentation

To complement the learning taking place with students, we warmly invite parents, guardians and staff to attend a ThinkUKnow Parent Presentation on Thursday 9 July at 4.00pm in the Bill & Marjorie Oats Theatre on the Commercial Road Campus. The presentation will explore:

  • what young people see, say and do online
  • the online challenges they may encounter, including online child sexual exploitation
  • practical strategies parents and carers can use to support children and young people to stay safe online

The session has a strong focus on prevention and provides practical, evidence-based advice to help families have informed and supportive conversations about online safety at home.

Please note: This presentation is for adults only. Attendance is free, however, bookings are requested to assist with seating and planning. Click here to register to attend
