Principal's Post

Dear Families,
After a busy term, I'm sure all of our St James families are looking forward to a break from routine and making lunches and doing the school run. I read this poem recently and it reminded me of the importance of stopping and being in the moment, when life is so often so busy, we forget to appreciate the small things in life, in nature and in our day to day interactions.
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
- Leisure by WH Davies
I hope you all take some time over the school holidays to stand and stare with your children.
I have included an article by Michael Gross in the Digital Technologies page that I strongly urge all parents to read and take note of as we enter the holidays.
Congratulations to our St James Netball super stars on their awesome Grand Final wins at the weekend. The Year 4 girls got the job done in a tough match against Heathmont Jets - score 17-20. It was a much deserved win as their determination was relentless and was an excellent team effort. The Year 5 team and Chloe Low from Grade 6 won their Under 11 Section 1 Grand final on Saturday. Some other St James teams performed very well in the Finals despite not taking home the trophy. We are very proud of our talented Netballers. Well done to all players!
⚽Socceroos World Cup Watch Party!⚽
Our SRC decided last week that the reward for filling our Whole-School Ticket Box would be a special opportunity to come together and cheer on the Socceroos as they play their final Group Stage match of the FIFA World Cup!
On Friday at 12:00 pm, students will gather by year level to watch the game in a designated classroom. For students who would prefer a quieter environment, a calm and quiet activity space will be available in an adjoining classroom.
To help build the excitement and team spirit, students are encouraged to wear green and gold or their favourite soccer outfit on the day.
We are incredibly excited to celebrate this achievement as a school community and enjoy the fun, energy and spirit of the FIFA World Cup together on the final day of term!
Go Socceroos! 💚💛
