Hi all

The Years 3s to 6s have started a 4 week European handball program.  It is a fast, high scoring game that requires the good throwing and catching.  Many of the strategies the students get from their out of school sports, such as running to space on offence and close checking for good defence, are required.  I have asked them all to watch a game on youtube this weekend for them to get a gist of a sport that is very foreign to them.

Our Preps to Year 2s are learning about kicking and punting.  This includes dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting soccer balls.  At school, punting doesn't mean taking a slow boat across the Thames or heading off to the T.A.B.   It is "to kick the ball after you have dropped it from your hands and before it touches the ground".   Just like in aussie rules.  The students were very good in correctly naming the many sports that require kicking and punting (although I didn't pay U.F.C.).

All the best to our girl's footy team who are off to defend their Little Saints Cup win from last year.  Our mixed cricket team is also off to compete in the Kingston Division cricket finals on Friday.  From all accounts, they are looking pretty sharp on the field and will put in a big effort against very good opposition.  Good luck boys!
