Future Problem Solving
This year, St Pius X entered a Year 6 team into the Future Problem Solving (FPS) Global Issues Junior Competition for the first time. The competition challenges students to analyse a future-based scenario, identify up to 16 potential issues, select and develop one key problem, and then generate 16 innovative future-focused solutions, all within a two-hour timeframe.
Competing against schools from across the region, our team achieved an outstanding result, finishing second in their division.
Last Monday, we received the exciting news that Future Problem Solving Australia has invited our team to attend the National Finals, to be held at Caulfield Grammar School, Victoria, in October.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Year 6 team members: Sam L, Joshua W, Emile R, Tom S and James R. The students have spent the past year preparing for the competition, giving up many lunch and recess breaks to attend training sessions, while also conducting extensive research at home.
Congratulations to these outstanding students on their success. We wish them every success as they represent St Pius X at the National Finals.
FPS 2027
Any current Year 5 or Year 7 students who are interested in learning more about Future Problem Solving and potentially joining a team in 2027 are invited to attend an information session in RE1 next Monday at Recess. We would love to see the next generation of problem solvers get involved.

Lights, Camera, Pius! on Clickview
The 2026 Lights Camera Pius! Film Festival is now available for all students to see on Clickview. Students will find the festival in the St Pius X College Library Folder. Parents and families will need to view the Festival via their son’s Clickview login.
