54th Annual Ceremonial Parade and Mess Dinner

On Monday 24 August, the PHSACU held its annual Ceremonial Parade, Awards Ceremony and Mess Dinner. The entire unit was buzzing with excitement as they prepared to showcase their drill skills to the Reviewing Officer, Brigadier Jodie Lording, CSM, Commander of 5th Brigade.

The cadets were sensational, and special congratulations must go to our Year 7 recruits, who worked incredibly hard to learn the drill for their very first ceremonial parade. Brigadier Lording commented on how professional our cadets looked, how well the parade was conducted, and how much she enjoyed the Quick Sticks display performed by our Drum Corps.

Following the parade, we gathered to recognise the efforts and achievements of our cadets throughout the year. A total of 37 awards were presented across the unit, acknowledging excellence in leadership, service, courage and skills. Congratulations to all of our award recipients.

The day concluded with our Mess Dinner, celebrating our Year 12 leadership team as they prepare to depart the unit at the end of Term 3. We gathered at the iconic Victoria Barracks Sergeants' Mess and were treated to a formal three-course meal. With a few speeches and more than a few tears, our Year 12s received a send-off fitting of the outstanding leadership team they have been.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this year's Annual Ceremonial Parade such a success. We are already looking forward to making it even bigger and better next year.

60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan

On Sunday 16 September, 10 of our PHSACU cadets gave up their time to participate in a service for Vietnam Veterans Day on 18 August. This year was special because it commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.

Our cadets marched alongside the veterans, taking the opportunity to hear their stories and learn from their experiences. CSM Will led the parade and laid a wreath during the ceremony as a mark of respect for the courage and sacrifice of those who served.

Thank you to CDTCPL Magnus and CDTCPL Marlon who were quick to volunteer to carry the Armed Forces banner. Thank you also to CDTLCPL Toby who carried the unit ensign, and CDTCPL Matisse and CDTCPL Isaac who were the Australian National Flag bearers. Alongside them in the march were CDT William, CDTLCPL Samuel, CDTCPL Harry, and CDTLCPL Aangirus.

The day was unseasonably warm, but our cadets stood proudly through the speeches and the ceremony in service of the veterans. Thank you to all of you. As always, you have made the PHSACU very proud!
