Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers

As we embrace the beginning of spring, it is hard to believe we have already arrived at Week 7 of Term 3. This time of year invites us to reflect on the growth we have seen in our students so far and encourages us to finish the term with renewed energy and purpose.

This morning I caught up with our Stage 3 students who returned back from their 3 day excursion to Canberra yesterday afternoon. There were some tired, weary faces but so much energy when telling me all about their highlights of the excursion. I heard about Phar Lap’s heart and Don Bradman’s baggy green hat in the Museum, the free fall and earthquake room at Questacon, The Upper and Lower Houses at Parliament House along with the intricate details of the Lego display at Parliament, just to name a few.

On Tuesday, our K-2 students went to Wagga to see the live theatre production of “Room on the Broom” at the Civic Theatre and a tour of the mini zoo at the Botanical Gardens. In talking to the teachers and students on their return it was a wonderful day and the weather was divine! ‘Room on the Broom’ was a huge hit and seeing the people live on stage was a new experience for many. However, one student did say the movies are better because you get popcorn! Some children got to feed the dingo at the Botanical gardens and I heard about the different animals - particularly Brian and Paul the Emu’s!

Excursions like this don’t just happen. They require plenty of preparation and organisation beforehand and then so much energy whilst on excursion. I would like to thank all the staff who have contributed to making the excursions happen. For that staff that supervised the excursions, thank you for your energy, professionalism and care of our students. Beyond the curriculum, these excursions are incredibly valuable for fostering social and emotional growth, offering students unique opportunities to build resilience, independence and lasting friendships. Finally, a huge congratulations to all of our students who have been wonderful ambassadors for our school and showing the utmost respect.

Hall Car Park

We kindly remind all parents and carers to refer to the diagram below which shows where to park in the school hall carpark and indicates the flow of traffic. Please be mindful of your speed in and out of the carpark which is 5km/h and that when driving out of the carpark you stay with the flow of traffic in a clockwise direction. With the exception of Friday’s (as we have assembly and Junior Joey’s) we ask that parents only park around the periphery of the hall carpark not in the middle. There is plenty of room on the sides of the car park to fill up first. We are consistently taking feedback and monitoring to ensure we have the safest model possible so please let the school know if something isn’t working. Your cooperation and extra care help keep all of our students safe.

Junior Joey's 2027

We have sent out Expressions of Interest for Junior Joeys 2027 and these close tomorrow 4th September. The class is filling up quickly and we can only take 25 children. If you have a child who is starting Kinder in 2028 or you know of anyone who maybe interested in their child being in the program, please ensure they submit their child’s name and we will be in contact shortly with registration forms. Please note, to register a child in Junior Joey’s we will  need a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

Showcase

Our first school Showcase is only two weeks away now on Thursday 17th September 6.30pm. A notification will come out on Compass for parents to order a packet of chips for their child at interval as the children will be staying with their teachers at the side of the hall during intermission. All students will need their water bottle with them as well. The snack bar will be open for the rest of the audience but teachers will issue the snack, get children to the toilet and some children will need to change into their costumes during intermission. We are sending a notice home to all parents next week regarding the finer details of Showcase. Tickets are available on QKR and at the door on the night.

Mrs Duck Leave

Mrs Duck is away on leave starting next week for the remainder of the term and Mrs Riley will be in the office on her own for the last three weeks of term which will be busy. Thank you to Mrs Riley for looking after the office in Mrs Duck’s absence.
