Footsteps

Last term our students engaged with Footsteps for a term of Drama and Performance. This term they will be getting their dancing shoes on every Wednesday as they develop their creativitiy and imagination- learning a series of movements and dances with Footsteps Dance.

Dance is a vital component of a well-rounded primary school curriculum. It goes beyond physical movement, offering valuable opportunities for students to express themselves creatively, develop confidence, and enhance their overall wellbeing. Through dance, children engage in activities that improve balance, coordination, and fitness, all while encouraging teamwork and communication.

This inclusive art form can be particularly beneficial for students who may not always excel in traditional academic areas, providing an alternative avenue to experience success and build self-esteem. Embedding dance into our learning at Modbury School P-6 is also aligned with the Australian Curriculum: The Arts, supporting outcomes in both health and physical education as well as in the general capabilities, such as Critical and Creative Thinking and Personal and Social Capability.

If your child is enjoying Dance this term, you may be interested in the home subscription program offered by footsteps.  At Home with Footsteps — is an online dance program designed for students to continue learning at home in a fun, structured, and engaging way. Please see the flyer below, which Footsteps have shared.
