NATURE ADVENTURE PLAY
This week the Correa and Hakea groups we our first session of our Nature Adventure play at Memorial Park. Before we left we had a safety discussion with the children about how we can safely walk to the park together. We talked about hazards, dangers and rules to keep us safe, such as the boundary road safety and awareness of dogs, bikes and other people in the park.
We told the children that they were bush adventurers and they needed to explore nature. We challenged them to look for insects, birds, nests, to look up, down and all around them, to smell, to listen to sounds. We spoke about an awareness of caring for country- using gentle hands and feet in nature.
We found some amazing things! We saw trees that went all the way to the sky, climbed other trees, collected snails and slaters, ran in the long grass, found sticks, saw purple flowers, made a tree cubby, walked along logs and so much more.
At the end of our nature exploration, we played in the playground.
It was such a beautiful experience despite the rain and we cannot wait to do it again next week! Hopefully the sun will be shining next week.
