Harmony Week at APS 2026

What a fantastic Harmony Week it has been at APS!

Harmony Week has been a celebration of the diverse languages and cultures that enrich our community here at APS and an opportunity to explore how embracing this diversity strengthens a sense of belonging. Throughout the week, students participated in various activities in their classrooms and with their buddy grades. A highlight for many students was Wednesday’s whole school picnic and cultural dress day. We also got to enjoy Harmony Week videos made by our talented Communication Leaders. A huge thank you to them for the time and effort they dedicated to organise and produce these engaging videos.

Harmony Week picnic

A special thank you to Ollie, Madeleine, Lenny M, Jack & Mandy for hosting our whole school picnic on Wednesday. It was great to hear and find out about so many different languages and customs at our school.

Year 6  Communication Team & the Harmony Week videos

"The Communication Leaders have been working on daily videos for three to four weeks. In our leadership sessions, we talked about the best way to share information about Harmony Week with the school community and make sure that everyone feels like they belong at Aspendale Primary. As a team, we talked about what we could put in the episodes, then we worked in small groups to write scripts with a little bit of research - we didn’t want any information to be wrong!

Ms Fletcher helped us practice and film the episodes. We think the videos are actually pretty good and look really nice. I like the editing too. I think they are pretty good and I think it will help people understand about the week and the day. "

~ Our Friday episode will be aired next week as our students wanted to include photos and videos of our Harmony Week picnic. Thank you Jack, Jules & Lenny T for helping us get it prepared!

Parent/Carer  Class Reps

We are still seeking parent representatives for 2S, 3J, 3R, 4F and 4JV. Each class is encouraged to have a parent rep to help share information, organise class social events and help with celebrating the classroom teacher. If you are interested in taking on this role, please email your child’s classroom teacher.

Bread tag token competition

We are running a bread tag collection competition between classes. Please give any bread tags to your child’s classroom teacher, who will keep them until the end of term. We will then collect and weigh the donations to announce the winning class.
