Principals Message

Message from the Principal

As we come to the end of another busy and successful semester, it is wonderful to reflect on everything our students, staff and families have achieved together. Schools are vibrant places, and this semester has certainly been full of learning, celebration and community connection.

From the very beginning of the year, our students have embraced every opportunity. We have seen outstanding participation in classroom learning as well as swimming lessons, the Swimming Carnival, Athletics Carnival, excursions, specialist programs, and performances  This semester has also seen the continued rollout of our Knowledge Building curriculum, the growth of our STEM program, and a range of wellbeing initiatives that continue to strengthen our school culture.

A huge thank you goes to our Parents and Friends Association for organising the recent Trivia Night. It was a fantastic evening filled with fun, laughter and community spirit.

Last week we also enjoyed our final whole-school assembly for the term, where our dance students showcased the results of their hard work and commitment. It was fantastic to see their confidence and talent on display. We also celebrated the latest group of students who achieved their Bronze and Silver Grade Point Average (GPA) Awards. These awards recognise students who consistently demonstrate excellent learning habits and academic effort over time, and we congratulate every recipient on this significant achievement.

On Wednesday evening, School Council met to review our progress against the goals in our School Strategic Plan. It was particularly pleasing to reflect on the strength of the school's performance across both learning and wellbeing. Recent student achievement data, together with our outstanding Student Attitudes to School Survey results, show that Trafalgar Primary School continues to perform at a very high level, providing students with an environment where they can thrive both academically and personally. These results are a credit to our dedicated staff, supportive families and, most importantly, our wonderful students.

Semester Reports have now been published on Compass. Due to the recent industrial action across Victorian government schools, teacher comments do not appear in this reporting cycle. The reports continue to provide valuable information about your child's progress against the Victorian Curriculum, and we encourage families to take the opportunity to discuss the report together at home. If you would like any additional information about your child's learning or progress, please don't hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher. We value these conversations and are always happy to work in partnership with families.

Looking ahead, there is already plenty to be excited about in Term 3. Our camping program begins with the Grade 2 Sleepover, followed by the Year 3/4 Camp and Year 5/6 Camp. These experiences are often among the highlights of primary school, providing opportunities for students to develop independence, resilience and friendships that last well beyond the classroom.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank our staff, students and families for another fantastic semester. Your support, encouragement and commitment to our school community continue to make Trafalgar Primary School a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.

I wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break. If you are travelling, please take care on the roads, enjoy the time with family and friends, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term.

Sincerely,

Cameron Nicholls
