Double Division Champions: Winter Sports Success!
What a day it was for our Trafalgar Primary School Winter Sports representatives at the West Gippsland Divisional Winter Sports competition!
After qualifying through the district stage, both our Girls Soccer team and Mixed Netball team travelled to Drouin to take on the best school teams from across West Gippsland. The challenge was significant, but our students rose to the occasion in outstanding fashion.
Both teams completed the day undefeated and were crowned West Gippsland Divisional Champions, a remarkable achievement that reflects the skill, teamwork, determination, and preparation of our students.
Our Girls Soccer team played with tremendous composure and attacking flair throughout the tournament, while our Mixed Netball team demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and consistency across a demanding schedule of matches. Across both sports, students represented the school superbly and displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.
As a result of their victories, both teams have now qualified for the Gippsland Regional Championships, which will be held on 29 July. This is the final stage of School Sport Victoria competition before the state finals and places our students amongst the strongest school teams in Gippsland.
Congratulations to all students involved on an exceptional performance. We wish both teams the very best as they prepare for the Gippsland Regional Championships next term.

Jazz Funk Stars Take the Stage!
Our Foundation to Grade 2 students recently wrapped up their four-week Jazz Funk Dance program with a fantastic performance at assembly on Friday 19 June.
Led by Miss Bobbie from Decipher Dance Trafalgar, students spent four energetic sessions learning a range of dance moves, developing their coordination, rhythm, confidence, and performance skills. From the very first lesson, students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and quickly grew in confidence as they worked towards their final routine.
The highlight of the program was undoubtedly the assembly performance, where students proudly showcased everything they had learned in front of their families, peers, and staff. Their smiles, energy, and commitment were on full display, and it was wonderful to see the excitement and pride they brought to the stage.
We congratulate all participating students on their effort throughout the program and thank Miss Bobbie and Decipher Dance Trafalgar for providing such a fun and engaging experience for our students. The performance was a fitting celebration of four fantastic weeks of learning, movement, and creativity.

Staff vs Students Soccer Showdown! [RW3]
After several weeks of soccer lessons and the excitement of our House World Cup competitions, students had one final challenge awaiting them — taking on the Staff All-Star Soccer Team!
Throughout the term, students competed for house glory during their Sport lessons, with the winning house in each year level earning the opportunity to test their skills against a team of brave (and perhaps slightly overconfident) staff members.
Congratulations to McGregor House, who claimed victory in Grades 3, 4, and 5, and to Davey House, who took out the Grade 6 competition. These students earned the right to represent their houses in the highly anticipated Staff vs Students Soccer Match.
The lunchtime event was filled with plenty of goals, laughter, impressive skills, and enthusiastic support from spectators. Students relished the opportunity to compete against their teachers, while staff members quickly discovered that keeping up with some of our young soccer stars was easier said than done!
A huge thank you to all staff who volunteered to take the field and help make the event such a memorable way to finish the term. Most importantly, congratulations to all students who participated in our soccer program throughout the semester and embraced every opportunity to learn, improve, and enjoy the game.

Instrumental lessons
We are currently accepting enrolments for instrumental music lessons commencing in Term 3. All four of our instrumental music teachers currently have vacancies available, so it’s not too late to join the program.
Students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular, one-on-one music lessons with professional musicians and learn a musical instrument in a supportive and engaging environment.
If your child is interested in joining the instrumental program, please submit an enrolment form as soon as possible.
You can find a full description of the instruments we offer, price, photos and bios of all the teachers, and a digital instrumental music form here - TPS Music site/Instrumental.
Enrolment forms can be collected from the front office or from the Instrumental Music form box located just outside the Music room. Completed forms can be returned to the front office or placed back in the box, and students can begin their one-on-one lessons as soon as possible.
I have included photos and bios of all the TPS instrumental teachers below.

It’s been another busy and creative week in the Art Room!
Trafalgar Primary School has been doing amazingly well outside of school with the art program this month, first with our awesome results at the Tanjil Valley Art Show and, this week, we received some exciting news from the IN mag.
The IN mag is a magazine made for Aussie kids by Aussie kids. All content is kid created and celebrates kids ages 4-13’s by giving them an outlet to publish stories, photos and art works. It’s free to send in content, just use the QR code provided and submit your best work. If successful in being selected, your work could feature in the next magazine. The IN mag is published 3 times a year in February, June and October.
The June issue of the IN mag has just come out and what an amazing surprise and proud moment for us at Traf Primary to have our very own Ollie O have his work featured on the cover. Congratulations Ollie! As well as Ollie’s cover, we also had some other students get their work published! Ivy L had her drawing featured in the Minion section, and Lyla P had a full-page photo of beautiful Trafalgar published. Congratulations to everyone who got their work in the magazine – that’s such an awesome achievement!

To see more works by students at our school check out the gallery space on the IN mag website or purchase your own copy or subscribe to either the hard or digital copy of magazine through this website. https://theinmag.com.au
Now, to what’s on in the Art Room this week!
Foundation students are continuing their Monet journey and adding more elements to their water lily gardens. This week students chose either Monet’s cat Chika or a little frog to add to their works using paper clay. Both come from stories read in class about Monet’s garden.

Grades One and Two have been reading stories about gnomes and creating their own gnome paintings, giving their gnomes personalities and making them very colourful.

Grade 4 have been looking at the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, learning about celebrations and creating some bright colourful work for the Year of the Horse.

Grades 5 and 6 have been continuing work on their Ming dynasty inspired pottery to create some beautiful blue ink paintings.

Thank you to everyone who donated cardboard rolls! We have received heaps of them and are nearly at the amount we need for our construction project in Term 3. We really appreciate all of your support!
Till next time, have a great break, filled with lots of colour and creativity.

Our Rotary Junior Community Award students continue to make great progress as they work towards completing the various components of the award. It has been wonderful to see students embracing new opportunities and challenging themselves in different ways.
Recently, students have participated in the Tanjil Valley Art Show, contributed to the local community through volunteering opportunities, including at Encore Retirement Living, and continued to develop new skills. Some of the exciting skills being explored include 3D printing, cake baking and decorating, and many others.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, commitment, and community spirit our students are demonstrating. We look forward to sharing more of their achievements in future newsletters.

Rotary Experience
By Havana
It has been very fun doing Rotary. I have learnt how to do new things that I would never think of doing in my usual day life. Some of the things that I learnt were how to 3D print and do dog walking for dogs. I would recommend doing rotary if you are in Year 6 because you learn so many things and get to experience so many exciting events.
My Rotary Experience
By Yasmine M
As part of my participation in the Junior Rotary Community Award, I have to complete a range of activities including Community service. I am currently volunteering at Encore Retirement Living in Trafalgar. For my first 4 hours, I helped with the Open Day on the 2nd of May. I helped meet and greet people and make name tags which was really fun! I also went on a village tour and got to go into a few of the villas.
For my skills, I have chosen to learn to cook and bake cakes and desserts. So far, I have made a raspberry jelly cheesecake and golden butter cupcakes which were both delicious.
We would like to congratulate all students who participated in this year's Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. Preparing and delivering a speech in front of an audience takes courage, confidence and dedication, and every student involved should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
A special congratulations goes to Georgina F and Yasmine M, who represented Trafalgar Primary School at the Lions Club competition with great pride, enthusiasm and professionalism. Both students were wonderful ambassadors for our school and demonstrated excellent speaking skills, confidence and preparation.
We would also like to acknowledge all students who participated in the school-based competition. The quality of speeches presented was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many students challenge themselves, share their ideas and develop their public speaking skills.
A heartfelt thank you to Marlee Tomczyk for her ongoing support of our students throughout the competition process. Her encouragement, guidance and commitment played a significant role in helping our students prepare and perform at their very best.
Well done to everyone involved on a fantastic achievement!

Congratulations to our Silver and Bronze GPA Award recipients who were recognised at assembly last week. These students have consistently demonstrated our school values through their positive attitude, effort, responsibility and commitment to learning. We are proud of their achievements and the example they set for others in our school community. Well done to all award recipients on reaching this important milestone! 👏🏅
