2026 Student of the Week

Primary Deck Step Project         

As a part of a new initiative, Mortlake College is trialing program that involves young students gardening with Mr. Nickl.  The goal is to engage students with the school grounds by improving existing gardens, developing new spaces (like the vegie garden) and identifying problems and solutions.

Mr. Nickl and Ezra noticed students jumping off the primary deck into the garden below.  The solution…shift the plants and create a proper step.  Over 3 weeks, Ezra and Mr. Nickl fixed the white edging, shifted plants and soil, added woody mulch, designed and built the step and landing, then finally, filled with gravel.

Grade 5/6 Rookies Hoop Time

On Friday 14th August, our Grade 5/6 students participated in the Rookies Hoop Time competition. The students made up two teams who proudly represented Mortlake College and had a fantastic day out!

Both teams had an outstanding day, winning all their games!

Our Grade 5/6 students represented Mortlake College with respect, great sportsmanship and kindness, demonstrating all the qualities we love to see from our students.

A special thank you to our three student helpers, Zavier, Jesse and Jobe, for their fantastic help with coaching and refereeing throughout the day.

A big thank you also to Ms Carmody for attending and supporting our students on this wonderful day.
