Retreat Week
The Mission Team would like to thank all staff who attended last week’s Retreat. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we would strongly encourage all staff to consider attending future retreats.
HSC Study Symposium
HSC Students from our secondary schools will be gathering at the Hub this Thursday for a student symposium. 60 students will be looking at techniques for success in multiple choice, short and extended responses. Chief HSC Marker Nicole Deniss from the Parramatta Diocese will be a guest presenter.
Heart of the Matter
An exciting new formation program aimed at helping our newer staff be better able to understand and contribute to the Catholic Identity starts next week in Tamworth. It will encompass 6 afternoon sessions over Term 3 and Term 4. This program is intended to be rolled out across the diocese in 2027.

REC Meeting
RECs from across the diocese will convene in Armidale for a two day meeting that will include sessions with Bishop Peter Murphy and a walk through KWL resource for Religious Education.
Dates: September 17 and 18
World Youth Day
ACS plans to take a delegation of young staff between 18 and 35 years of age on pilgrimage to World Youth Day Seoul 2027. This is open to all staff within the age range, not exclusively teaching staff.

New Staff Induction
All new staff to the diocese under the accreditation to work, teach and lead are required to attend an induction day in Armidale. There are multiple dates to choose from which enables schools to spread the load and to give opportunities to staff that start throughout the year. The dates for induction days are

Do Catholics Worship Mary?
The simple answer is No, Catholics do not worship Mary. Catholics worship God alone (the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). However, Catholics honour Mary in a special way, higher than any other saint. This is called veneration (dulia), with Mary receiving the highest form, hyperdulia. Hyperdulia is the supreme veneration given only to the Blessed Virgin Mary - still not worship, but above other saints.
