The Road to Confirmation
The Confirmation journey is well underway for our Year 6 students, a time dedicated to reflecting on faith, growth, and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initiation in the Catholic Church that started at Baptism. Through the laying on of hands and anointing with Sacred Chrism, candidates are sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is a powerful moment where young people are strengthened to take ownership of their faith and live as active Catholics in the world. This sacrament continues to hold a deeply meaningful place in the St Leonard's Primary.
Confirmation Family Workshop
On Tuesday, 19th August, at 6:00 pm, we had a fantastic turnout for our Confirmation Family Workshop. Parents and candidates gathered to deepen their understanding of the sacrament, its rich traditions, and its symbols. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to work together and explore practical ways to support their children throughout this spiritual milestone.
5/6 Religious Education - "What’s Your Mission?"
Throughout this term, our Year 5/6 students have been engaging with the RE unit "What’s Your Mission?" This unit encouraged students to explore how the Holy Spirit helps people draw closer to God and Jesus Christ. Key takeaways from their learning include:
- The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Understanding how these gifts empower us to respond generously to others.
- Scripture Connections: Connecting personal experiences with insights from Scripture regarding the Spirit's work.
- Fruits of the Spirit: Recognizing how the Spirit becomes visible through our everyday words and actions.
- Living the Mission: Discovering how Confirmation strengthens Christians to develop their unique gifts to love and serve God and neighbor.
Reflection Day & Special Guest Visit

On Wednesday, all our Grade 6 students, both Catholic and non-Catholic, participated in a Reflection Day. Together, they reflected on their individual talents, identified who inspires them, and recognised family members who model the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
A highlights of the day was the privilege of meeting Bishop Thinh Nguyen. Bishop Thinh is the third youngest of thirteen children and he shared his personal story and explained how the Holy Spirit has guided and strengthened him throughout his life.
Confirmation Day
Our candidates will reach their final sacrmental milestone on Thursday, 17th September at 7:00 pm, when they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. A heartfelt thank you to our 25 candidates, who have worked so hard in preparation for this important day. We also extend a special thanks to the students from other year levels who have generously volunteered to sing in the choir and serve at the altar, helping make this celebration rich and uplifting for our entire community.
