Catholic Education Week

Kate Fogarty Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited recently shared that -

Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for Catholic schools to celebrate our shared Catholic identity, distinctive mission, and the valuable contribution Catholic education makes to families, parishes, and the wider community.

In 2026, Catholic Education Week will be celebrated from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May. The theme for the week is ‘Seek Peace and Pursue It’ (Ps 34:14; 1 Peter 3:11). In a world marked by complexity, division and war, the biblical call to seek peace offers a profound and timely invitation that resonates deeply with the mission of Catholic education.

For leaders, educators, students and families, this theme serves both as a challenge and a compass. It reminds us that peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, mercy and love. It calls Catholic school communities to be places where peacemaking is lived and modelled - in classrooms and playgrounds, in leadership and learning, and in engagement with parish and community life. The pursuit of peace is central to the mission of Catholic education.
