Year 6

What a great start to Term 2! The children returned with real energy, settling quickly back into routines and rising to expectations. We kicked off the term by revisiting our school values — and it has been great to see more role models stepping up. In the classroom, students have been diving into new content and concepts across the curriculum with curiosity and determination. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to a term full of growth and achievement. Thank you, as always, for your support at home.

Reading: Skellig by David Almond

Students read David Almond's Skellig, using the novel as a springboard to explore how authors craft compelling narratives. Learning focuses on character development, mood and atmosphere, figurative language, and narrative structure — analysing how Almond builds tension and mystery through precise word choices, shifting perspectives, and the interplay between the realistic and the magical.

Integrated: Australian Government

Students have begun to explore how Australia's democratic system of government works, examining the roles and responsibilities of the three levels of government — local, state, and federal — and how they interact. Students will be investigating the key principles of democracy, the structure of parliament, how laws are made and the rights and responsibilities of Australian citizens. We kicked the unit off with an online incursion provided by the Parliamentary Education Office where students were given an in-depth look into how our government system works.
