Green Team News

After 8 weeks of being neglected, Brendan’s Garden was not looking its best, so it was rewarding to spend some time weeding and tidying up the garden beds. Some of the weeds had taken over the garden beds, but once they were removed there was an abundance of produce to be harvested. The pumpkins have also thrived on the summer rain and mild sunny weather, growing vigorously out of their beds and over the grass. It will be at least another month until they are ready to be harvested, so stay tuned to hear more about their progress in future Green Team news.

I was most appreciative of the Year Six students who offered to assist me in harvesting the produce. We picked corn, beans, tomatoes, spring onions, capsicum and egg plants. The eggplants grew to a huge range of sizes, as you will see in the photos attached.

The 2024 Green Team members will soon be chosen in each class and I hope to have the team working with me in Brendan's Garden in two weeks.
