From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 6, a time when we celebrate your prep students going full-time this week!
After several weeks of having a home day on Wednesdays, our prep students have commenced their first full week of primary school. The prep teachers and learning support staff have been fully committed and engaged in settling the preps into new school routines, including how to navigate the playground, attend assembly, and farewelling the 5/6 students on their camp!
This week's Managing Big Feelings webinar might be helpful for families as prep students start to realise that going to school five days a week, 8:30 am-3:15 pm, is now the new normal! There will be a link available to the recording if you were unable to make the Tuesday evening session.
PBL MaKa Award
This week at our assembly, we launched a new school wide award that recognises one student from each class every fortnight who is showing kindness, care and behaviour that supports our Positive Behaviour for Learning.

Sport @ St Simon's
Over the last few weeks, many of the students have been shining in their sporting achievements with participation in the St Simon's House Cross Country, Year 3-6 Athletics and Swimming Carnivals.
Thank you for the amazing support from family who were able to attend and cheer on students as they competed and had fun along the way.
Coming up, students in Years five and six are preparing for the district interschool winter competition, where they get to compete against similarly sized schools in our local community and nearby suburbs

Year 5\6 Camp - The Ranch - Mornington
This week, students in Year 5\6 will be attending school camp from Wednesday 4th to Friday 6th March as part of our school outdoor education program. Accompanying them will be twelve staff members who will support and guide them through different activities and experiences that will challenge and affirm their sense of confidence and resilience.
We look forward hearing and seeing posts of the campers time away!.
School Closure Days Terms 2 and 3 - 2026
Throughout the year, the school schedules several school closure days for staff to engage in professional learning and compliance activities. There are also days scheduled for time-in-lieu (TIL) activities that staff attend and run outside the normal hours of the school day. These days are used to acquitt these hours.
When a school closure day is scheduled, Beyond Edu Care will operate a program of care for the day so that families can have their children looked after on the school site.

Photo Consent - REMINDER
The St Simon’s School Social Media consent form is now active on nForma for all school families to review. Please complete the consent form as soon as possible so that our records reflect your consent regarding students' use of images for school publication and social media.
Last year, a "roll over" of consent data was used with the express understanding that it can be changed at any time by contacting the school office.
This year, we will take a fresh snapshot of consent information.
The Digital Image consent form is available on nForma. Please note that families with more than one child at the School will need to complete a consent form for each child attending.
