Year 3/4 Soccer Gala Day Recounts
On Friday, the Year fours and Threes went to Hislop Reserve to play soccer. We played against different schools like OLGC, St Annes and St Roch's. We had a lot of fun with our friends. We kicked some goals, but most of all we just had fun. In total we played 7 fun games, even though we were going to play 8. All of the games went for 12 minutes and none of them had half-time, so that we could have more time playing. Even though most people played 7 or 8 games, we all had fun and really enjoyed participating in the Soccer Gala Day.
Anthony and Vivienne (4MD)
On Friday August 7 we had a Soccer Gala Day. When we got to school the teachers organised the teams. Then the Year 3s got on the bus. When we got to the soccer field, each team would play about 6 matches. We had fun versing each team and our favourite part was having a great time with our friends. When the Soccer Gala Day ended we were exhausted. We hopped onto the bus to get to school. WE all had an amazing time.
Sebastian and Evan (3CH)
On Friday the Year 3’s and 4’s went to a Soccer Gala Day in North Balwyn. First, we went to school with our school bags and lunch. We were put in groups of 8 or 9 and then boarded the blue and white bus. I was sitting beside Ari in the window seat. It was about a 15 minute drive to our destination. Next, we got off the bus and thanked the bus driver. We formed a straight line and walked to our camp. When we got there we put our bags down and warmed up. Our first game started at about 9:30. After that, we had a snack and shared some lollies. When I finished I saw my friend IZZY! I was so happy! We hugged until our next game. So far we were invincible and had not lost at all, except for one tie. Finally, the day ended without one single loss for our team. When my Mum came and picked me up I told her all about my amazing day. I felt tired out, but I definitely had the best day ever!
Mariana (3GR)
On Friday the Year 3’s and 4’s went to North Balwyn for a Gala Day against several schools. First, we took a bus to the park. I sat with Angus and Sasha at the back. We played a game of spotting graffiti. It was funny and silly. When we arrived at the park we hopped off and immediately felt the fresh air hit our skin and the sparkling sunshine in the sky. Next , we walked to the park. The grass was very wet and we spotted a huge puddle begging for attention. When we arrived there were a lot more schools than I expected. As we settled down at the park, Mr O'Shea and another parent set up a mat. We put our bags around the mat so it wouldn’t fly away. Then, we went to our teams. I was in the Sacred Heart Tigers. Our first game was at 10:15 against the other team but it was really fun! We won 5-2 but it's not about winning or losing but having fun! After that, we had versed several schools and we were versing my team's second last match. After the last match I packed up and started playing for a bit. Finally, we went back to school. It was great fun and above all a brilliant Gala Day for me and my friends!

First Aid in Schools
Last Monday, our students successfully completed their St John Ambulance First Aid training. The students participated enthusiastically in practical activities and developed valuable skills and knowledge to respond confidently in a range of first aid situations. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to build their confidence, learn important life-saving skills, and develop a greater understanding of how they can help others in an emergency. We are very proud of their commitment and participation throughout the training.
Science Week
Science Week is coming up August 15-23. The school theme for National Science Week in 2026 is Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.
