Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15)

As we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, we are reminded of Mary’s extraordinary faith and the special place she holds in the life of the Church.

The Assumption celebrates our belief that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven. It is a beautiful reminder that God’s love is greater than death and that our lives are ultimately destined for God.

Mary’s life was one of trust. She said 'yes' to God, even when she did not know exactly where that journey would lead. She cared for Jesus, stood beside Him through moments of great joy and great sorrow, and remained faithful throughout her life.

Loving God,

Thank You for the example of Mary, who trusted You and faithfully followed Your call.

Help us to have courage like Mary, kindness in our words and actions, and faith when life presents us with challenges.

May Mary watch over our school community and guide us closer to Your love.

May we always remember that, like Mary, we are called to say “yes” to You and to bring Your love and hope to others.

Amen.
