From our Principal

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Term Three. We return to our school this term feeling grateful to our community for the ongoing care they show us.

You may have heard that there was a fire at our school over the holidays. There was some exterior damage to our Year Six portable, which has been rectified over the break and throughout this week. The portable has also been thoroughly cleaned internally. Thank you to the Department of Education for organising this.

We are grateful to our neighbours for taking prompt action, to the fire brigade for their swift and thorough response and the follow up from Victoria Police.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week took place this year from July 5-12, celebrating the theme ‘50 Years Deadly’. Across the school students have been learning about the achievements, knowledge and culture of First Nations People. Our Year Six leaders have created videos which have helped us to learn more about First Nations leaders, including Jessica Mauboy, Jimmy Chi, Eddie Betts and Maree Clarke.

NAPLAN 

This week individual NAPLAN reports were distributed to our Year Three and Year Five families. Our results in 2026 are a clear endorsement of our ongoing improvement work, with results above similar and network schools across all measures in both Year Three and Year Five. These pleasing results continue in our growth data for students in Year Five. 

Thank you to all our staff for your commitment to professional growth and refining our instructional practice based on the science of learning. Thanks to our students for your openness to learning and desire to improve, and thank you to our parent and carer community for your ongoing investment in our learning environment at Aspendale Primary School. We will continue to examine the data to embed our improvement work and identify areas for continued refinement.

International Students Arrive

This week, our first group of international students started at Aspendale Primary School for Term Three. It was lovely to welcome their families on Monday morning and to see them supported by our Year Six leaders as they settled into their classrooms. They are engaging in learning and enjoying building friendships in the yard. We look forward to our next group arriving on Monday.

2027 Enrolments

If you have a child starting school in 2027, enrolments are now open. As of 2026, enrolments have moved online; the link is provided below. When you access the link, you will create an account and enrol your child from the account. This is a new process for schools in our area. If you would like assistance, please contact the office and we are happy to help.
