New Assistant Priest

We farewell Fr. Huy Nguyen who has taken up a position in Mordialloc.  We thank him for his service to the Parish and particularly to our school community.  We welcome Fr James Baptist who has commenced as an assistant priest at St Andrew’s Werribee.  I am sure that you join me in welcoming Fr John to our community and we look forward to working closely with him.

Advent Group

Everyone is invited to a weekly Advent Reflection for three weeks every Wednesday night around 7:00pm at Penola Hub.  These sessions will be held on the 4th Dec, 11th  Dec and 18th Dec.  If you are interested, please list your name on the clipboard which is located near the altar in the St Andrew’s Church.

PRAYER

At its core, the Rosary is a meditative prayer that invites us to contemplate key moments in the life of Jesus and his mother Mary. This contemplation helps us to understand the Gospels and the virtues they embody such as love, compassion, humility, and sacrifice.

When praying the Rosary we focus on different mysteries that describe events from the life of Jesus and Mary.  The mysteries are divided into four categories: joyful, luminous, sorrowful and glorious.  Rosary beads are used to help Catholics count the prayers they say while praying the five decades of each Rosary.  We pray the Rosary to thank God for the blessings we have received and to ask for God’s intercession.

To pray the Rosary:

Make the Sign of the Cross

Pray the Apostles' Creed

Pray an Our Father

Prayer 3 Hail Mary's and a Glory Be

Pray the 5 Decades by announcing the mystery and then:

Praying an Our Father

Praying 10 Hail Marys

Praying the Glory Be

Finish your Rosary by praying the Hail, Holy Queen

Scroll through the images below for information on what mystery is said on what day and the prayers you will need to know to pray the Rosary:
