Some words from the Principal
Mrs Courtney Hoffmann
Dear Karoo PS Community,
What a year it has been! From our sensational KPS Karnival to the many special events throughout the year, and the strong engagement in learning and growth across our school, 2025 has been a joyful year filled with growth and celebration. It has been a pleasure in recent weeks to see our students and staff reflect on their achievements, and to celebrate a very special milestone with our graduating Year 6 students.
For me personally, in my first year as Principal of Karoo Primary School, it has been a true privilege to lead and work alongside such dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged, thoughtful students. I sincerely thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement, support and gratitude shown throughout the year—it has been deeply appreciated.
As we move into the end of the year, I would also like support our families to plan ahead for 2026. Therefore, please find below an outline of key dates for 2026.

Karoo Parent’s Association - Thank you for a wonderful year!
It’s been another fantastic year to support our sensational school and we want to say a very big thank you to the entire parent and carer community for putting up your hands over the year to help wrap more than 100 raffle prizes, turn and serve more than a thousand sausages and 300 cups of tea and coffee, set up dozens of trays of food, hand out 400 slices of pizza, support our 422 students with Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts, attend or help organise the Karoo PS 'Karnival,' volunteer at one of our second-hand uniform stalls, or donate your time, products, services, or skills to help out at our activities over the year.
It was one of the biggest and best years at Karoo PS and this is all made possible by your enthusiasm and engagement, so thank you. We would also like to thank all our outgoing families and look forward to welcoming our new families in 2026!
Come along to our KPA 2026 AGM
The KPA is holding our 2026 AGM on Thursday 29 January 2026 at 10:30am (following the welcome to 2026 assembly) in the Community Centre.
The AGM is open to the whole Karoo community, so come along to hear what we’re working on and join the team! All roles are open for nominations. Please see the KPA page in this newsletter for further information on nominating.
Thankyou,
Rhi Fogal, KPA President
We welcome our school community to be part of our KPS School Council. Parents on School Councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school. One of the great things about our school is our strong parent input and involvement. Our School Council is one forum in which parents and staff work together for the benefit of all our students.
At the beginning of each school year, we have a number of vacancies for School Council. At the beginning of 2026 I will announce the number of vacancies in this newsletter. However, there has been an update to School Council policy and now all School Council members must have a valid WWCC to be on school council and to nominate. Therefore, if you think you may nominate to be on School Council in 2025, please ensure that you have a valid WWCC as this must accompanying your nomination form.

Over the break we will continue to maintain and improve areas of the school. We are working towards our goal of upgrading our basketball courts and we are currently sourcing quotes and look forward to planning how and when this work can commence. The gym floor will also be sanded, resealed and will be looking great for the start of the year. Along with continual grounds maintenance, our painting works will continue over the holiday break also, so we can look forward to our school continuing to become more modern and shine!
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Karoo Parents Association President, Rhi Fogel and our KPA team for supporting our community events for this year. The support that the KPA provides ensures that our school's community is connected and thrives. I would also like to acknowledge and thank Serryn Bryant, our School Council President and our School Council for their work to give voice to our school community into the operations of the school.
A heartfelt hank to all our staff for their dedication and ongoing commitment to our students and school improvement, it is a privilege and pleasure to work alongside such a sensational team of educators and staff each day.
To all our families, thank you, for your ongoing support, your kind words and encouragement has been appreciated immensely, and to our extraordinary students, thank you for making our school such a positive and welcoming place every day.
I wish you all a wonderful festive season and holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone in 2026!
Warm Regards,

Courtney Hoffmann
