A poem from Mrs Wright

Library
A poem from Mrs Wright
With a love of books and a smile or two.
They called her Mrs Wright, and from day one she knew,
This library held magic and wonderful kids too.
The shelves stood tall with stories untold,
Of dragons and adventures, of brave and bold.
But it was the readers, eager and bright,
Who made the Karoo Library sparkle with light.
She learned their names (sometimes forgetting), their smiles, their taste,
From funny books to fantasy, none went to waste.
As weeks rolled on, the library grew,
With colourful windows and displays shining through.
Then came the Book Fair what a delight!
Scholastic stories stacked left and right.
The Karoo Karnival attended with cheer,
Filling the library with laughter and cheer.
Book Week arrived with exploration and fun,
When Ms Bookworm appeared “Book an Adventure!” begun.
A scavenger hunt sent readers on a chase,
Searching for clues all over the place.
The Premiers’ Reading Challenge reached new heights,
With Karoo readers reading day and night.
More books than ever were opened and read,
Adventures danced through every head.
But some mysteries came without a plan
The Guinness World Records books? Gone! Vanished! Oh no, oh man!
Grade 4 stepped in, detectives so keen,
Solving the case like a well-read team.
Magical moments filled the year through and through,
Including Mrs Wright riding on a reindeer it’s true!
Author Adam Wallace came for a laugh,
Leaving the library roaring on behalf.
Bean bags appeared for calm, cosy reads,
Shelves were shifted with thoughtful ease.
Fresh paint, new spaces, corners just right,
A library made welcoming, warm, and bright.
By year’s end, the numbers told quite a tale,
15,890 books checked out without fail.
Each one carried magic, adventures galore,
From Karoo Library to homes and back once more.
And so, ends the year but reading goes on,
With curious minds from dusk until dawn.
For at Karoo, with stories so true,
The magic of reading belongs to you.
A message from Mrs Wright
It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of Karoo this year. Thank you to the students and staff who have made me feel so very welcomed. Thank you also to the Library Captains, you did a wonderful job this year.
The next chapter is waiting to be written, and the Karoo Library looks forward to welcoming everyone back next year. Until then, have a wonderful break, stay happy, stay safe, and keep reading.
