Term 2 Week 5                                                                                                    22 May 2026

From the Principal

Hi Everyone,

It has been so wonderful to have a dry second half of the week. Don't get me wrong, we need and love the rain, but really wet school days are tough on everyone. So, the sun has been a very welcome friend. Thankfully, it is also meant that interschool sport has been able to go ahead and I'm thinking the different sporting trials will also have happened - well done to all the children who signed up to trial for basketball, softball, rugby, and coming up next week, cricket.

I could only get to half of Fanfare, due to other commitments but our children were so amazing. Congratulations to Mrs Trudy Weekes and Mr. James Kukulies, you must be so proud of the band and various strings groups. Not only did I think they were amazing, but the judges thought so too! Our Senior Band received the Gold Award, and our Intermediate Strings, Senior Strings, and Chamber Stringers all received Platinum! An absolutely outstanding job by everyone.

Congratulations to all our Year 4-6 Merit Certificate recipients this week, we are very proud of you.

It was wonderful having our Chamber Strings perform on assembly this week and next week, we will have the Intermediate Strings which is great because we don't get to hear them perform quite as much as the other groups.

Save the Date: Our Student Council let us know about Ironside War Cry Day at assembly last week.  It is Friday the 5th of June and children are encouraged to come in their sports colours and bring a gold coin donation, to support our Student Council. It will be a fun day!

Excitingly, the Preps are going to get to experience their very first excursion, which is to Lone Pine. They are going to have the best time! Thank you so much to our wonderful Prep Staff for organising this fantastic excursion which helps to enhance the Preppies knowledge and understanding.

Around Australia next Wednesday a particular story book is read for National Simultaneous Storytime. I love this event because it encourages what we know is so important and that is for our children to love stories.

Next Tuesday night, the 25th of May is our next P&C meeting, at 6:00 PM in the staff room. Please come along and help support your children at Ironside State School. I hope to see you there

Have a wonderful week.
