PREP NEWS

It has been wonderful to see our Prep children return for Term 2 so eager and ready to learn. 

We the Prep team are so proud of the children’s positive start to the term and look forward to seeing their continued growth and confidence in their learning.

This term, we are focusing on different types of measurement. The children have been exploring concepts like time, length, and capacity through fun, hands-on activities. 

Prep CT had a wonderful time exploring the concept of time in our classroom. We have been using mathematical language such as first, then, and next to help sequence events throughout the day. To make our learning hands-on and engaging, we enjoyed playing with clocks and even building our own. It has been fantastic to see the children developing their understanding of time in such a fun and interactive way! 

Students have also been learning about capacity, how much a container can hold. Students investigated the ideas of empty, half full, and full through fun, hands-on activities using water and sand. We compared different containers and discussed which held more or less. Children practised using this vocabulary to describe what they could see and explain their thinking, while also building their measurement skills.
