From the Classroom

Foundation Birds
Students used Magiclay to create a 3D artwork of a bird. Students explored shape, form, and colour through sculpture. Students developed fine motor skills by moulding and joining materials. Students listened to a story about a colourful parrot, then created a bird using their imagination and their own creative ideas.
Grade 3/4 Paper Mache Cakes
Students learnt about the artwork and style of Wayne Thiebaud. They discussed the key features of the Pop Art movement. Students explored how artists use colour, shading, and repetition in this art movement. Students began this activity by drawing a cake slice using observation and shading techniques, and then created a 3D cake sculpture using paper mâché. Students used acrylic paint to decorate their sculpture with detail and texture, and were able to add detail using magiclay, pom poms, glitter and other craft materials.
