Books to Life Performance 'Being Indy' - Student recount
On Wednesday we went to Dungowan Hall for Books to Life and we got to hold the puppets. It was fun and I had so much fun at the hall.

On Wednesday we went to Dungowan Hall for Books to Life and we watched the performance.

Yesterday we went to Dungowan Hall to watch Books to life. there were costumes, dress ups, acting, singing and puppets and I used the puppet and the puppet I used was little boy. He was agreeing with Percival so he can stay on the mountain. All the children wanted to stay on the mountain so they can have fun.

When we got to school we did some work and then we jumped on the bus to go to Dungowan Hall to go to Books to Life. The book that he made come alive was Being Indy. When we were there we got off the school bus.
We had lunch and then we lined up and went to sit down and then the show started.
First I got picked and I got to draw on the chalk board with chalk. I drew lines and shapes. Then it was over and we jumped on the school bus again. We went back to school and dropped Elsie and Harry off at the top of the cutting.
We got back to school. We were just in time for the bus and we got home.

Niangala Public School Students Start Learning the Ukulele
This term, students at Niangala Public School are starting to learn how to play the ukulele!
The ukulele is a small, fun musical instrument. It is easy to hold and has simple chords, so students can start playing songs quickly. With help from Mrs Grayling, students will learn how to strum the strings, play notes, and keep a beat.
Learning music helps students be creative and feel good about themselves. Everyone is encouraged to practice, ask questions, and play together as a group.
We are excited to hear the wonderful music students will make with their ukuleles this term. Enjoy playing and making music, Niangala students!
Volume speaks volumes in the classroom!
During Maths this week, we have been learning about volume and how much space something takes up. Miley, Ashton and Matilda did some predicting, experimenting, measuring, and recording during one lesson, which had a very surprising outcome.
We took two A4 sheets of paper—same size, thickness, and exactly the same in every way.
We then folded and taped one sheet short edge to short edge, giving us a shorter, wider cylinder. We taped the other sheet long edge to long edge, which made a taller, thinner cylinder.
Next, we estimated which cylinder had the greater volume. All students actually thought that both cylinders would have the same volume.
We measured the volume of the shorter cylinder by filling it with centimetre cubes. To compare the volumes, we then tried to fill the taller cylinder with the cubes from the short cylinder.
We were very surprised to learn that the volume of the short cylinder was much greater than that of the tall cylinder.
Test it out yourself—it’s pretty interesting to see how folding the same sized piece of paper in different ways changes the volume so significantly. Maths is so fun and interesting!
