Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Welcome Back to Term 3!

We hope all of our families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning.

A new term brings fresh opportunities for growth, learning and connection. Throughout Term 3, we look forward to celebrating many special moments together as a school community, including Grandparents & Special Friends Day, the Sacrament of First Eucharist, 100 Days of School for our Foundation students, the Feast of St Mary MacKillop, Book Week, our Colour Run, Celebration of Learning, and Sports Colours Day.

Term 3 is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all that makes our SMCM community so special. We warmly invite our families to join us for as many of these events as possible and look forward to sharing another memorable term together.

Capital Works Update

I am delighted to share that, over the school holidays, we received final approval from the MACS Executive Director for our Stage 4 building project. The Josephite Centre has now officially gone to tender. We anticipate a four-week tender period, followed by the appointment of a builder. Subject to this process, we are hopeful that initial works will commence in October.

I am also pleased to announce that the order has been placed with EzyTurf for our new synthetic soccer pitch, with installation planned for August. This exciting addition to our school facilities has only been made possible through the incredible generosity and fundraising efforts of our school community.

Thank you for your continued support of our fundraising initiatives. This term's Colour Run will help contribute towards the cost of this much needed new playing surface, ensuring our students have an additional space to play and learn for many years to come.

2027 Enrolments

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we welcomed our Prep 2027 students and their families for their enrolment meetings. These conversations mark the beginning of our transition program and are an important step in building strong partnerships between home and school.

We are excited to welcome 100 Prep students to the SMCM community in 2027, with a small number of second-round enrolment offers for new families still to be finalised.

As our school community continues to grow, we also have places available in Years 1 - 6 for 2027. If you have family or friends who are considering joining the SMCM community, we encourage you to invite them to submit an enrolment application.

It is wonderful to see our school continue to flourish and we look forward to welcoming many new families into our community next year.

We look forward to welcoming our Grandparents and Special Friends to SMCM on Monday 27 July as we celebrate the Feast of St Anne and St Joachim.

This special afternoon is a wonderful opportunity to honour the love, wisdom and faith that grandparents and special friends bring to the lives of our students and our community. For more information, please see the Community and Family Engagement section of today's newsletter.

Saints Joachim and Anne Patron Saints of Grandparents

God of our fathers, you gave Saints Anne and Joachim the privilege of being the Parents of Mary, the mother of your incarnate Son.

May their prayers help us to attain the salvation you have promised to your people.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
