Congratulations Sofia - Team Vic
It was a very full on weekend in the recent Australian Schools Track and Field Championships. Sofia Urtone was an amazing representative of the school and the state of Victoria in the multiclass competition.
The competition level was strong with so many more kids to compete against, NSW alone has 44 multi class athletes this year.
Sofia collected 2 bronze medals in the combined relays and a 4th place in the 100m and long jump (PB), 5th in 200m (PB) and 6th in Shot Put.
Regional SSV Golf Championships
The regional SSV golf tournament was held on Thursday. Conditions were very windy but luckily the rain held off. It was a tough field of 26 participants with Archer Bond finishing 14th and Tyler Drayton 15th. Archer was on target with his putting and had a fantastic round. A big congratulations on such a fine effort.
Sweethearts - Band and Academy Excursion
On Tuesday the 27th of November, Band and Academy had the opportunity to attend ‘The Sweethearts’ free concert, open to schools across regional Geelong. The concert was at Matthew Flinders, in their gym. They played soul music with a mixture of covers and their own creations. We also had the chance to listen to the ‘Young Hearts’, the juniors of ‘The Sweethearts’. They didn't match in age however, they did in quality. The lively atmosphere that filled the gym, was terrific. It was better than expected and opened many to the genre and the idea of being in an all girls band. They inspire young girls today with their popularity and confidence. We speak for the The Surfside Band and Academy, by saying thanks to Mr Morzinek, Stacy and Sabrina for letting us go on, and enjoy this amazing experience.
