Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,
Our Year 6 students returned from an unforgettable camp experience at Kangaroobie on Thursday, blessed with truly stunning weather that allowed everyone to make the most of every moment. Across the camp, students embraced a wide range of activities, challenged themselves, and created lasting memories with their peers.
While there were countless highlights—from outdoor adventures to shared laughs and personal achievements—some stories will live on well in to the future as special camp memories.
We are incredibly proud of our students for the way they represented our school, consistently demonstrating resilience, compassion, respect and responsibility throughout their time away. Their positive attitude and willingness to step outside their comfort zones made the experience both rewarding and enjoyable for all.
A sincere thank you to our dedicated staff—Simon, Taniya, Jonathan, Amy and Monique—for their commitment, care and enthusiasm in making the camp such a success. We also extend our gratitude to our parent helpers—Ian K, Catherine R, Angela G and Quentin V—for generously giving their time and support.
Well done to our Year 6 cohort on a fantastic camp!
Cooking Classes with Foodbank
We were thrilled to launch our Family Cooking Classes this week, made possible through our partnership with Foodbank. This wonderful program provides eight of our HPS families with the opportunity to come together each week in a fun, supportive environment to learn more about healthy eating habits.
Each session offers a hands-on experience where families cook, share and enjoy a delicious meal together. Alongside this, participants take home a hamper filled with fresh and staple ingredients, helping to extend the experience beyond the classroom and into their own kitchens.
It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and engagement at our first session. Families explored new foods, tasted different flavours, and gained valuable tips and tricks around cooking safely and enhancing meal options. Importantly, these are skills and ideas that can now be confidently replicated at home.
We look forward to seeing this program continue to bring families together, strengthen connections within our community, and support healthy, sustainable cooking practices.
We thank the Foodbank staff very much for their gentle and supportive guidance.
Industrial Action
Please be aware that a 1/2 day work stoppage has been set by the AEU for our area on Thursday 28th May. We know that eligible teachers will be encouraged to stop work from 8.50-12.38pm. Please stay tuned and I will provide more information about what this means for our school as it becomes available.
