Year 1

Our Year 1 students have been exploring the bold and colourful world of Fauvism — an art movement known for using vivid, expressive colour rather than realistic tones. 

After studying works from this period, students took a close look at a striking cow portrait by contemporary Italian artist Claudio Malacarne, whose energetic brushwork and fearless use of colour captures the spirit of Fauvism beautifully. 

Inspired by his work, our budding artists have been creating their own Malacarne-inspired cow drawings, experimenting with bold colour choices and expressive mark-making.
